Product Description

XLPE Insulated Power Cable refers to cables that have insulation made from Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE).
XLPE is a type of thermosetting plastic that has superior electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties compared to traditional insulation materials like PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). Due to these enhanced properties, XLPE insulated cables are widely used in power distribution and transmission applications.

 

 

XLPE insulated power cables come in various sizes and configurations, typically classified by their cross-sectional area (measured in square millimeters, mm²) and number of conductors. Common sizes include:

Low Voltage (up to 1 kV):
Sizes: Common sizes range from 1.5 mm² to 400 mm².
Applications: Used for residential and commercial power distribution, lighting circuits, and small machinery.

Medium Voltage (1 kV to 33 kV):
Sizes: Common sizes range from 10 mm² to 300 mm².
Applications: Suitable for substations, industrial plants, and urban power distribution networks.

High Voltage (above 33 kV):
Sizes: Common sizes range from 185 mm² to 1200 mm² or more, depending on the application and installation conditions.
Applications: Used for power transmission over long distances, in substations, and in industrial applications that require high power distribution.

Characteristics of XLPE Insulated Power Cables

High Temperature Resistance:
XLPE can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C, making it suitable for various environmental conditions.

Electrical Insulation:
Excellent electrical properties result in reduced electrical losses and improved performance for high-voltage applications.

Moisture Resistance:
The insulation offers good resistance to moisture, reducing the risk of electrical breakdown.
Chemical and Abrasion Resistance: XLPE is resistant to certain chemicals and provides good protection against mechanical wear and tear.

Lower Weight:
XLPE cables are generally lighter than their PVC counterparts, making transportation and installation easier.

Longer Life Span:
Cables insulated with XLPE typically have a longer lifespan compared to traditional cables.

Technical Properties of Conductor

Conductor: Generally uses similar or not similar diameter twisted round single wire. This sample book adopts the former technology.

I. Conductor for 1.8/3KV and below cable:
1. Single core cable core is round or extruded round, cross-section of multi-core cable core of 35mm² and below is round, 50mm² and below is fan-shaped or semicircular.
2. ( 3+1 ) ,( 3+2 ) ,( 4+1 )neutral wire and protection core is round or extruded shape, among them 5-core power cable may adopt 4 core plus 1 core twisted to 4-core cable core, or a corrugated shape or five cores extruded into fan-shape 5th core into extruded round shape and other structures.
II. Conductor for 3.6/6-8.7/10KV:
1. Adopts highly extruded round shape, with extrusion co-efficient (n) not less than 0.87.0.88.0.89.0.90 and 0.91according to different cross-sections.
2. Under special situations, 6KV conductor can also be fan-shaped.

III. The minimum number of single wires used in the conductor structure is in accordance with the following table.
